A great opportunity for young musicians.

2018 Young Artists Festival - January 27-28, 2018,  Norwalk City Hall


The Norwalk Symphony will again offer this unique program for young musicians, and we have many new features this year. Most notably, we are opening the Junior and Senior competition levels to pianists! Please refer to the brochures for guidelines.  You will find the Young Artists Festival brochure here, and the Concerto Competition brochure here. Also, we have worksheets available to help students prepare for the theory test in the Festival level.

All Festival level participants are strongly encouraged to attend the Concerto Competition on Sunday, January 28 at 5:15 pm to experience the spectacular level of musical performances that have become the norm. The Concerto Competition is presented as a recital and is open to the pubic.  Tickets are $10 each, $5 for students.

Please join us in celebrating with the winner of the Concerto Competition when they join the NSO to perform at the Music For All Ages subscription series concert on Sunday, March 18h, 2018 at 3pm. Student tickets are only $10! For full guidelines please refer to the brochures linked above. The levels of entry are as follows:

Festival I
Open to string students who have studied privately for 2+ years.  No theory test.

Festival II
Open to string and wind students who have studied privately 3 to 5 years and are under the age of 12.  Includes Beginning Theory Test.

Junior Competition - Cash Prize of $150!
Open to string, wind, and piano students who have studied privately for 4+ years and are between ages 12 and 15. Includes Intermediate Theory Test. 

Senior Competition - Cash Prize of $300!
Open to string, wind, and piano students who have studied privately for 6+ years and are under the age of 18.  Includes Advanced Theory Test.

Concerto Competition - Winner performs with the NSO in a subscription concert!
